'Moonlight' to open Rome Film Festival

Director Barry Jenkin's "Moonlight" will open the upcoming 11th edition of Rome Film Festival.

The much-buzzed about film, which will have its European premiere in Rome, is already at the center of a great deal of awards chatter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new film from the "Medicine for Melancholy" director explores the life of a young black man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami as he struggles to find his place in the world through topics of friends, family and love. 

The film stars Alex Hibbert, Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Jharrell Jermome, Ashton Sanders, Andre Holland and Janelle Monae. 

"Moonlight is an extraordinary film, at the same time powerful and tender, realistic and poetic. It is a great honour to open the Rome Film Fest with such a work of art," said Rome's artistic director Antonio Monda. 

"This is a film destined to go a long and successful way and which will stay in our hearts; it also confirms the great, genuine talent of Barry Jenkins." 

The film played Telluride and Toronto and will play in New York before being released in the US on October 21.

During the Rome Festival 2016 there will presented many films. Among the films shown will be "In war and in love" by Pif or the former Hyena and "Storks in mission" which is distributed by Warner Bros. 

Surely the most anticipated films of the season, which will premiere Monday, October 3rd at 21 in the Cinema Barberini in ​​Rome, is American Pastoral by Ewan McGregor. This movie is based on the novel American Pastoral by Philip Roth who is considered one of the masterpieces of contemporary American literature.

Among the famous actors who will take part at the Festival are Viggo Mortensen, the unforgettable Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings but also Tom Hanks that will always be remembered for his performance in Forrester Gump. And still there will be Oliver Stone, David Mamet and Meryl Streep. 

The Rome Film Festival is on from 13th to 26th October 2016.

Ryanair is betting on Rome. Like every year the famous low-cost airline has presented the 2016 winter season well in advance. For winter 2016 they have announced 4 new routes to Lanzarote, Nuremberg, Prague and Sofia and new winter connections for Alicante, East Midlands, Malaga and Trapani. They have also increased the flights to Athens, Bari, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Edinburgh and Manchester.



Edie Wilson, Chief People Officer of Ryanair, said: "We are pleased to launch our winter program in 2016 from Rome, with four new routes to Lanzarote, Nuremberg, Prague and Sofia, new winter routes to Alicante, East Midlands, Malaga and Trapani, and more flights to Athens, Bari, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Edinburgh and Manchester, which allow the transport of more than 9 million customers a year and will support over 6,900 jobs at the airports of Rome Ciampino and Fiumicino".

Zoolander 2 makes its appearance in Rome

Zoolander 2 is definitely one of the most waited for films of the year and in the past few days gone Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, protagonists of this funny comedy, landed in the Italian capital to present the film and meet the fans.

Their most amazing sighting was yesterday near Via Condotti in Rome and in particular in the windows of the historical maison Valentino. The two actors were "exposed" as two mannequins and let themselves go with irreverent poses and bright smiles to the delight of fans and photographers flocked in hundreds.

Hateful Eight premiere in Italy at Cinecittà Rome's famous Studios with888 guests

Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight latest film will receive a really special 70mm premiere in Rome.

On 28th January 2016 the event will be held at Cinecittà Studios as the famous 'Teatro 5' will become a winter set to reflect the landscape of the film. The director Quentin Tarantino will be present for the event, together with actors Kurt Russell and Michael Madsen.

The event is themed on number 8, with 888 guests for Tarantino’s 8th film, centered on 8 characters.

Teatro 5 is where Federico Fellini used to live when he was working at Cinecittà Studios and has  held his name ever since. For the Hateful Eight film presentation, spectators will be taken in  full blown winter scenery, full of references from the story of the film.

The 188-minute film are shown with a 3:48 minute overture from musician Ennio Morricone.

The Hateful Eight has 3 Oscars nominations for best supporting actress, best original score and best photography.
