The famous Italian shop "Rinascente" opens its flagship store in Rome

150 years after the opening of the first store in Milan and 100 years after its birth with the name coined by Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1917, La Rinascente loses a piece of its name by eliminating 'La', but gains a new position in the luxury segment, opening in the capital its second space, in Via del Tritone, dedicated to the major clothing brands, design, jewelery and cosmetics. For Rinascente it is the second flagship store in Rome, to be added to that of Fiume Square. For Rinascente it is one of the largest stores: 15 thousand square meters.
"We are proud to open this department store in Rome - announces the CEO of Rinascente Pierluigi Cocchini - a palace which in the last 11 years underwent a complex work of renovation. The result is perfect harmony with the context that hosts it. We added value to the historical-cultural richness of the space. An element which is extraordinay is the possibility to visit the archaeological site in the basement which brings to light one of the treasures of Ancient Rome: the Virgin Aqueduct inaugurated by Augusto in the 19 century b.C.“

The store also incorporates a small building built in early XX century called 'Palazzetto' which on several floors becomes part of the architecture. Another distinctive element is the chariot that crosses all the floors in height by allowing the light to spread. Found and preserved also a domus of the IV century, mosaics, spa and a stretch of Salaria Street, the street where the salt was carried.
The façade on Tritone Street includes 96 windows and seven showcases. It was  redesigned by Vincent Van Duysen. On the ground floor are housed design objects, luxury accessories, jewelery and watches. On the first floor there is the perfumery. Second and third floors designed by the architect Paolo Lucchetta are dedicated to male collections. Fourth and fifth are for female lines. On the sixth floor two terraces are for the food and its restaurants.

Correggio and Parmigianino exhibition in Rome

From Saturday (until 26 June) the Scuderie del Quirinale will host the exhibition "Correggio and Parmigianino: Art in Parma in the sixteenth century." Through a selection of masterpieces from the most important museums in the world, the exhibition compares the paths of two absolute stars of the Italian Renaissance, Antonio Allegri called Correggio (1489-1534) and Francesco Mazzola called Parmigianino (1503-1540) . Thanks to the formidable talent of these two artists, the city of Parma became the beginning of the sixteenth century, an artistic center able to fully compete with the great Italian art capitals like Rome, Florence and Venice.

The Scuderie del Quirinale (Quirinal Stables, also called Papal Stables) was built over ten years, from 1722 to 1732 . The Scuderie, together with the Palazzo del Quirinale (Quirinal Palace – official residence of the President of the Italian Republic) and the Palazzo della Consulta (Constitutional Court – originally a villa built upon the ruins of the Baths of Constantine and adapted by Sixtus V as a civil and criminal court), make up a stunning urban space. At the center of the spacious piazza between these three buildings stands an obelisk – moved from nearby the Mausoleum of Augustus in the eighteenth century – atop a fountain and the famous statues of the Dioscuri (the two gigantic Roman marble “Horse Tamers”, Castor and Pollux). The Scuderie stands next to the Colonna gardens and on top of the archeological remains of the great Roman Temple of Serapide – some of which are still visible. The building covers approximately 3000 square meters , over several floors. Wide-open spaces on the second and third floors house the exhibitions. A cafeteria is situated on the mezzanine level and a bookstore, a giftshop and special areas dedicated to exhibition-related initiatives are all on the ground floor.Visit the Scuderie del Quirinale: what a view! 180° of beauty from the highest of Rome 's Seven Hills. The great window, designed by Gae Aulenti as part of an overall restoration of the Scuderie del Quirinale, is one of the site's main attractions. From Piazza Venezia's Victor Emanuel Monument (also known as "Vittoriano" or "Altare della Patria") to the many church domes - in the distance you can even see Saint Peter's – and from the rooftops of the city's historic center to the green backdrop of the Gianicolo Monte Mario and Pincio hills... hundreds of surprises await the visitor as he or she admires the city from on high.

From Penthouse Apartment Monteverde Rome take bus H direction Termini for 11 stops and then walk for 300 meters.

Gianicolo's Cannon

Want an alternative to expensive accommodation in Rome?

If you are facing the Belvedere Gianicolo and are enjoying a beautiful view do not be alarmed if you hear a loud cannon bang: replace the clock, it is noon! Since 1847 , in fact , by order of Pope Pius IX , a cannon shoots at noon. The pope wanted to impose a standard to the bells of the Church of Rome so that all sounded in unison. From 24 January 1904 the cannon is placed on top of the Janiculum hill just below the statue of Garibaldi and its shot, when the weather is quiet, it is audible as far as the Esquiline.

Penthouse Apartment Monteverde Rome is not far from the cannon at Gianicolo.

Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece where you can find low costs food and accommodations and peace and quiet. Monteverde is simply far enough from the heavy traffic and congestion you want avoid on a Roman vacation however, close enough to the historical center to experience the unique beauty of Rome.  This family-oriented quarter is like a well earned stroll in the park.

Monteverde is typically divided in 2 components, Monteverde Vecchio, a largely early twentieth century neighbourhood of stately villas, and Monteverde Nuovo, most of that consists of semi-high rises buildings made within the last half of the twentieth century.

The star attraction is Villa Doria Pamphili formerly possession of the Pamphili family, currently, however is a public park, the most important in Rome.

Both the American University of Rome and the American Academy in Rome are in Monteverde.

You will, of course, need to explore the historic center of Rome. That can be done from Monteverde efficient public transport network. Tram line 8, Rome's newest over ground train, runs, every 3 minutes, the Circonvallazione Gianicolense to Piazza Venezia, passing via Trastevere, Campo de Fiori and the Jews quarter.
