A typical character in Rome: itinerant knife grinder, l'arrotino

An itinerant knife grinder works from his bycicle on the streets of Rome near the Colisseum. In Rome  Knife sharpeners are known as 'arrotino' and they announce themselves in this customary manner shouting: "Donne è arrivato l'arrotino!" (Women the knife grinder has arrived!). They sharpen knifes for restaurants and housewives who come down from their homes when they hear his call and gingle from loud speakers.
